DONNELLSON -- Shay Stephens scored 17 points and the 10th-ranked Notre Dame High School boys basketball team overcame an early deficit to down Holy Trinity,55-46, in a Class 1A district final at Central Lee High School.
Notre Dame (19-4) advances to play eighth-ranked North Linn (22-2) in a substate final at 7 p.m. Saturday at Iowa City High. The winner advances to the state tournament March 10-14 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
Holy Trinity ends the season with a 19-5 record.
Holy Trinity led 10-9 after the first quarter. The Nikes led 25-21 at halftime and 38-32 after three quarters.
Jack Drew added 10 points for the Nikes, while Griffin Kies had nine points, Colby Booton had six points, Payne Prottsman scored five points and Eli Oleson and L.J. Harris each scored four points.
Luke Hellige scored 18 points to lead the Crusaders. Adam Sobczak added 10 points, Nathan Box tallied eight points, Layne Rung finished with six points and Corbin Van Niewaal contributed four points.
