Gregory D Rosenkoetter, formerly of Burlington Iowa, died Thursday December 26, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. Born on October 2,1963, he was the youngest of three sons born to Betty Bonewitz Rosenkoetter and George Donald Rosenkoetter III.
As a young child, he was quiet and inquisitive. Reading, sports and playing with neighborhood children on the bluffs of the Mississippi River fueled his mind and imagination.
Greg attended Burlington High School, studying history at Colorado State University, and graduating from University of Northern Iowa. After trying different careers, he found his passion as a Direct Support Professional, caring for adults with severe disabilities. Here, his qualities of loyalty, quirky humor and quiet strength brought comfort and stability to the Ertz Home residents.
In 1981 he met Vicky Hausner, the love of his life, on a blind date. Nine years later, they reunited and married on November 10, 1990. The happiest days of his life were when they adopted their daughters, Lily and Emma. He was a goofy, yet serious, hardworking father. Not much with words, he was generous in remembering little things to spoil them and supported their shared interests in music, reading and sports.
Greg enjoyed punk and hard rock music that spoke to his quiet, deep soul. Other hobbies included reading historical nonfiction as well as fiction and playing strategic computer games. Despite chronic kidney issues, Greg maintained a cheery spirit and wholeheartedly supported his wife and daughters in living their lives to the fullest. He will be deeply missed.
Greg is survived by his wife Vicky, his two daughters Lily and Emma of Mesquite Texas; brother Eric Rosenkoetter and his wife Ann, of Austin, Texas; step sister Susan Stahl and her husband Tom, of Denver, Colorado; nieces and nephews, Sara McBride, George Rosenkoeter V, Blake Rosenkoetter, Zachary Rosenkoetter, Max Rosenkoetter, Olivia Rosenkoetter, Jacob Rosenkoetter, Carolyn Ohringer, Susan Walicki Bradford Stahl and Grace Stahl, and ten great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Jack Tod, brother Don Rosenkoetter IV, stepsister Ann Tod Stuart and beloved grandmother Bonnie Bonewitz.
