Congratulations to Notre Dame’s speech team for their recent successes in
competition.
At the state speech contest in Cedar Rapids on Saturday, March 9, Notre Dame
students achieved high ratings in the individual events competition.
Students who received “excellent” (“II”) ratings were: freshman Liam Haeger;
sophomores Ian Falcon and Logan Hamma; junior Ty Newberry; and senior Lauren
Krieger.
Those receiving “superior” (“I”) ratings were: sophomores Mary Joyce and
Hannah Schuldt; juniors Anneliese Lachnitt and Eva Salvador; and seniors
Elizabeth Hamma and Yazmin Sorensen. (Yazmin earned “I” ratings in two
categories.)
In addition, Notre Dame competed in the Optimist Oratorical Scholarship Contest
on March 12 where they spoke on the topic, “How to Change the World with
Optimism.”
Third place went to Mary Joyce; Logan Hamma finished second; and Lauren
Krieger was the first-place winner. Lauren will go on to compete in the next level
of the competition to earn scholarships of several thousand dollars.
Good luck to Lauren, and congratulations to all the Nike speakers! Well done!
